hi, i'm stella.

i work at OpenAI, to improve models for people

I work on model behavior and capabilities as a product manager in OpenAI's post training team.
I focus on things like model creativity, and improving the way our models work with people to solve problems in their lives.
I've spent most of my career and academic efforts focused on innovation and governance suited to our era: one in which increasing globalization and the highest rate of migration in human history are coupled with new technologies that tug at our individual and social fabric. I hope to help it fortify, not fray.

my approach is multidisciplinary, informed by my time at Yale and D.E. Shaw

I've led full x-fctl teams to build loved experiences from 0-1 and at-scale across apps, marketplaces, hardware and operating systems at Google and LinkedIn.
At Yale I researched extremism and theories of self and State through dual B.A. in comparative literature and global affairs, with an emphasis on international security.
Prior to working in technology, I was a rotational associate at D.E. Shaw where I focused on systemic risk, macro investing, and online CS coursework with MIT.

i grew up in montana and speak multiple languages

I grew up in Missoula, Montana, which shaped my perspective on community and connection to place.
I speak Arabic, Spanish, French, and some Japanese.

this website is an experiment in digital expression

This website intends to be a playground of visual work, writing, and emergent shared experiences. It is discovery based, encouraging exploration, while hopefully still comfortable to saunter around.
